Peter Morgan has earned a reputation as a dynamic performer at a steadily growing number of opera houses both domestically and abroad. Known for his, “booming voice” and “captivating” performances, Mr. Morgan has recently begun his journey into the Wagnerian repertoire, performing the role of Alberich (Das Rheingold, Siegfried, and Götterdemerung) with Lyric Opera of Kansas City, West Edge Opera, and Tacoma Opera. In addition to the classic operatic canon, Mr. Morgan has made a name for himself as an interpreter of new music with several regional and world premieres to his name, including Jason and the Argonauts by Gregory Spears with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Songbird by James Lowe and Kelly Rourke with The Glimmerglass Festival, the recent landmark production of John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles with L’Opéra Royal de Versailles (which is available to stream now on Medici TV), and the world premiere film of The Copper Queen by Clint Borzoni and John de los Santos with Arizona Opera, which was nominated for Best Digital Opera in the International Opera Awards.
In the 23/24 season…
Mr. Morgan made a return to The Lyric Opera of Chicago in the fall to reprise his world premiere performance of Chiron in Jason and the Argonauts by Gregory Spears. Mr. Morgan will also return to The Lyric Opera of Kansas City to perform Max Detweiler in Francesca Zambello’s production of The Sound of Music, a role that is fast becoming a new signature of his. 2024 will bring a house debut for Mr. Morgan at Opera Tampa where he will sing the role of Il Commendatore in their production of Don Giovanni. In the spring of 2024 Mr. Morgan will return to The Lyric Opera of Kansas City to make his Wagnerian debut singing Alberich in their condensed Ring Cycle concert, The Journey to Valhalla. In the summer of 2024 Mr. Morgan will sing Sparafucile in Rigoletto with Druid City Opera, then he will return to the world of Wagner singing Alberich/Fasholt in West Edge Opera’s production of Der Ring in Einem Abend, a production of Wagner’s entire Ring Cycle cut to be performed in one evening.

Mr. Morgan is a graduate of the prestigious Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where he was the Artist Diploma in Opera Studies Fellow, and was also awarded the Brockman Endowed Scholarship for Opera.

25/26 Season highlights…
Include several exciting role premieres, first as Vodnik in Rusalka with Pacific Northwest Opera and another as the cantankerous Doctor Bartolo in Il bariere di Siviglia with Druid City Opera. In the fall Mr. Morgan will reprise his performance of Alberich, (a role that is fast becoming a signature of his) in Das Rheingold with Tacoma Opera as the first part in the company’s monumental undertaking of Wagner’s entire Ring Cycle. Mr. Morgan will also return to Chicago Opera Theater to be a soloist in their Shakespeare Sings concert, followed by singing the role of Bardolfo in their production of Salieri’s rarely performed Falstaff. December brings two different turns as the bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah with The Apollo Chorus of Chicago and The Northbrook Chamber Orchestra. In the new year Mr. Morgan will make his company and role debut with Opera Southwest singing The King of Egypt in their production of Verdi’s Aida.
